The Lions Barber Collective

Here at NeoCape, we know barbers aren’t just clipper-wielding hair-tamers. They are beautiful humans reaching out to people who need them.

One such group of beautiful individuals is The Lions Barber Collective, a group of barbers who have recognised that they are in a position to help any of their customers who are struggling with depression.

Suicide is now the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. The aim of the Lions Barber Collective is simple: to turn barber shops into places where men feel safe to open up and talk about their problems.

Working with Papyrus and Pieta House to support Prevention for Suicide Awareness, the Lions Barber Collective are creating ‘Barber Talk’, a training programme to help barbers recognise, talk, listen and advise their clients when they are in the chair. This isn’t about turning barbers into councillors, but it is about embracing the client’s trust and directing people to the right place to get the help they need.

It’s about letting men know that it’s OK not to be OK.

These dudes are capable of great things. They could save lives… and that’s amazing.

So let’s hear it for the Lions Barber Collective! Sending lots of NeoCape love and support your way.
